How many BPMs does it take to break the stone? How many meters underground do you throw your wildest dance? How many thumbs must be raised for you to take a breath
Underthumbs is a choreographic work for those who live, work and have fun underground. A work about the underground human activity that is invisible but without it the ‘above world’ would not function as we know it. Approaching the term underground both aesthetically and realistically, with the real meaning of working and having fun underground, the two choreographers create an underground world in which bodies vibrate from the impact while thumbs always remain raised. Bodies that claim their space, bodies that fall but continue. Between shovels, breaths and beats, the boundaries of reality and fantasy blur and the fatigue of work gives way to a strange, crouching, crazy dance.
